Somewhere which involves a beach, is far away and means I have to take a backpack and a lonely planet guide.
What’s so amazing about Wigan?
They eat pies, it’s in the north, home to Heinz baked beans, George Orwell wrote a book about it, Ian McKellen came from wigan and so did lots of musical talent including George Formby, the Verve and Kim Marsh! Also it has a pier but isn’t by the sea.
Best advice to give to a fresher
Get stuck into a church where you can be supported, grow and serve. It’s great to see people outside of the student bubble and also great for free food that’s nicer than halls!
