‘This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us’ (1 John 5:14).

As followers of Christ we know an awesome God, who is capable of all things, who created the world and who want to know us personally. We can come and meet with him as our father we can bring all things to him and he promises to hear us. As a Christian Union we believe that nothing we do is possible without God and that everything we do it ultimately for His glory. Therefore, prayer is so important for us both as individuals and as a collective. We can bring all our concerns, expectations and joys to him however small or big and he listens. It is this belief which is why we believe that praying into all things is so important, whether we are thanking God for our answered prayers or calling on him to work in us, in our friends and through our work as a Christian Union. Through prayer we learn to rely on Him more and come to know him and trust in his ways. Prayer along with scripture is also how we can know Gods will for us personally and for out mission as a whole. As a CU we want to encourage individual prayer but also facilitate collective prayer. This is why we have twice weekly prayer meetings together, so we can come together and pray for our friends, our campus and Gods mission through students throughout the country and the world.

Come along to The Chapel in Portland building from 8-9am on a Monday morning or 1-2pm on a Friday to join with us in a time of prayer.
